Get Answers to Common Questions

Which holidays are flags placed in my yard?

Flags are placed on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriot Day (Sept 11th), and Veteran's Day.  If you purchase the subscription with the Texas Flag addition, we also put a Texas flag out on March 2nd, Texas Independence Day.

What size is the flag you'll be placing in my yard?

We use a high quality 3 foot by 5 foot nylon American or Texas flag on a galvanized steel pole.

What is the "flag footing" and where in my yard is it placed?

  • The flag footing is a 2 inch diameter piece of galvanized steel we place in the ground to hold your flag. It gets burried 9-12 inches deep in the ground, is cut to be level with the dirt, and does not interfere with mowing. We use metal in the ground so if we're having a hard time finding your footing (grass likes to grow over the top), we can use a metal detector to locate it quickly.

  • If you live in a sidewalked- neighborhood:  We believe the flags look the best, add the most curb appeal, and can be best displayed when placed in the middle of the grassy area between the community sidewalk and the curb of the street, about a foot from the driveway. We recognize not every homeowner may want their flag footing placed here. This is the default location, however we will let you know when we plan to come install your flag footing and you can 1) let us know a different location preference via email OR 2) be present when we install the footing and instruct us in person.

  • If your home is NOT in a sidewalked- neighborhood: we will contact you to ask where you would like your flag(s) OR you can email us directly at HometownFlagCo@gmail.com.  We will try our very best to contact and get in touch with you, however if several attempts at contact have failed- we will opt for a location near the driveway.

How long before and after the holidays are the flags put out and picked up?

Generally speaking flags will be placed the Friday/Saturday prior to the next holiday, however since a child and his friends are the main laborers we ask for patience. Your flag is guaranteed to be in your yard before sunrise on the actual holiday. For the holidays fairly close together (Flag Day/ Juneteeth and Labor Day/ Patriot Day) your flag will remain in your yard for the days between those two holidays and will be picked up after the second holiday.

How long is a flag subscription?

A flag subscription is good for one calendar year. If you subscribe on May 1st, for example, we will fulfill the flag subscription until the following May 1st. If for some reason you subscribe too close to a holiday, and we are unable to fill the subscription request for that first holiday, we will still honor the missed holiday the following year.

What's the next step after purchasing a flag subscription?

After your purchase, we'll reach out to let you know when we plan to come install your flag footing (the metal piece that holds the flag and remains in your yard when your flag isn't present.) We try to come do installations when we have several to do at once, usually on an evening or weekend. If you happen to subscribe near the next flag holiday, and if we have flag availability, we might need to install your footing when your flag is also delivered. We believe clear communication is crucial in keeping our clients satisfied and happy with our service and aim to meet this expectation.

What happens if we move?

If you are moving within our servicing area (Argyle, TX), please reach out to us via email at HometownFlagCo@gmail.com and we will happily move your subscription to your new residence and provide a new metal footing. If you're moving out of our servicing area, we'll miss you! Unfortunately we do not offer refunds for any unfulfilled holidays you will no longer be in the home to enjoy.

Will my HOA be okay with this?

Each HOA has different rules/ restrictions for displaying flags. We looked up the flag guidelines for two of the larger HOAs in our area to help you answer this question for yourself (or see what you would be looking for if you do not belong to either of these HOAs). As Argyle has many large and small HOAs we cannot list every community in our town and apologize if your neighborhood isn't listed here.

Is your company insured?

Sure is! If something happens on your property, and it's our fault, we promise to make it right. We try our hardest to live by the Golden Rule and are so grateful for your trust in us to provide the best service/ experience possible.
